SOPA Act
Today I would like to comment about something recent and popular throughout the internet news. SOPA. What is SOPA? It is the ability of U.S. law enforcement to fight online trafficking in copyrighted intellectual property and counterfeit goods. Basically the government wants to take MORE control over civilization. No more youtube, wikipedia, music websites, etc. This act would shut down every type of popular educational and resourceful website online. For what? Well, to prevent people from uploading illegal documents, music, programs, etc.
I do understand that musical artists work day and night creating their music to sell in stores, not to be downloaded for free illegally. I understand to this point. However, shutting down websites like Youtube would significantly cause a havoc. Teachers, students, elderly, children, doctors, etc., use this website to research or learn how to accomplish something. Obviously that is not the case always, but, it would affect those who use this website for educational purposes only.
The government announced they were overwhelmed by the online community which signed about 13 million petitions. So for now, we are safe, but for how long?
